South African adventurer known for his exploratory exploits without the aid of motorized vehicles, including circling the Equator and Arctic Circle and skiing to the North Pole.
After serving in the army and attending the University of Stellenbosch, he started working in sports science. He started his adventuring career when he was 24.
Several sports teams have asked him to serve as a motivator, including the Indian National Cricket team who later credited him with helping them win the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
He was married to Cathy Horn until her death in 2015. He has two daughters.
