Woman who was named the world's oldest living person in 2023 at age 115, after Lucile Randon died at age 118 in January 2023. She attributes her age to her good genes, and the fact that she has never dieted, drank, or smoked. In March 2020, she was the oldest person to survive COVID-19 at the time.
During the Spanish Civil War, she worked as a nurse, alongside her husband who was a trauma doctor.
She lost hearing in one ear after falling from a deck aboard the ship her family took from the United States back to Spain in 1915. She played the piano until she was 108 years old.
She is of Catalan descent. Her parents moved from Spain to the USA shortly before she was born, and moved back to Spain when she was eight. She married Joan Moret in 1931 and together they had three children.
