American actor who made his film debut in the 1947 film noir crime film Desert Fury. He went on to star in Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 mystery thriller Rear Window. His last film role was in 1968's The Astro-Zombies.
He worked as a washing-machine salesman before launching his acting career.
He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1961 to 1963. Throughout the course of his acting career, he made more than 75 appearances in various films and TV series'. In the show Harbor Command, he appeared in more than 30 episodes, playing the character Captain Ralph Baxter.
His parents were Milton Rothwell Corey and Julia Etta McKenney.
