The company went on to make a fortune with his synthetic Diamond reproduction invention but all he got in addition to his regular salary was a $10 Savings Bond.
He decided to work for General Electric in fourth grade.
A devoted Mormon, he had seven children, 35 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.
Charles Coffin founded the General Electric Company, which financed his diamond-making Business.
