American scientist, speaker, and inventor who rose to fame after winning the Grand Prize at the first-ever Google Global Science Fair in 2011. She won the fair at age 17 for her research on cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug. In 2023, she was named one of Forbes 30 under 30 for science. She co-founded a company called Piper, which provides STEM education kits for kids.

Her family moved from California to Texas when she was 5, and she attended high school at Fort Worth Country Day School. She graduated from Harvard University in 2016 and went for her MD and PhD at Duke University afterward.

She was featured in Glamour Magazine's Top 10 College Women of 2015, and when asked about the experience said, "I was featured alongside 9 other really amazing young women who are changing the world, and it was amazing to think that a young girl might pick up the magazine and realize that being in science or entrepreneurship or using her unique skills to do something amazing could be in a fashion magazine".

Her parents were both immigrants from India. Her older brother is one of the main reasons she began having an interest in science. She became focused on cancer research after losing her grandfather to cancer.
