Slovenian president who took office in December of 2022. She is best known for her rulings and books on freedom of information, legal opinion, and high-profile legal cases. She is the first female president of Slovenia. She served as Information Commissioner from 2004 to 2014 and president of Slovenian Red Cross from 2015 to 2016. She ran for presidency as an Independent candidate.
She studied law at the University of Ljubljana in 1992, passing the bar in 1997. For six years she worked as a journalist and host for Television Slovenia. She then hosted the central news program 24UR for five years. She continued her education at the University of Salford, later getting her PhD from the University of Vienna Faculty of Law. She has interned with the BBC, Sky News, Border TV and more.
Aside from her political career, she is also an attorney and author. She co-founded the OnaVe association, a portal designed to connect female experts and promote knowledge. She owns a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI that was made in 1971 and originally belonged to Princess Alexandra.
She is married to businessman Aleš Musar and the two have one son.
She has represented former first-lady Melania Trump and the Social Democrats political party of Slovenia.
