Mario Brescia Cafferata, born in 1929, was the co-founder of Grupo Breca, a conglomerate of companies in Peru. He and his brother Pedro took control of the firm after their father's death in 1951, and it has since expanded into a variety of businesses, including agriculture, fish products, cement, paint products, mining, and real estate. In 2012, the firm bought a copper project in Peru and started operating a gold mine in Peru and Chile. Mario's sons now own 40% of Grupo Breca, which includes Intursa, Peru's largest hotel chain. Mario passed away in 2013 at the age of 83.
