Over the next several decades, Katz's career spanned several industries from law to finance to entrepreneurship. He earned the vast majority of his fortune from real estate development. Over the years he spent time as the owner or the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and the New Jersey Nets of the NBA. After receiving an honorary degree from Temple, Lewis Katz announced that he was donating $25 million to the school of medicine.
