Dutch Swimmer and four-time Olympic champion, she won four gold, two silver and two bronze medals over her decorated career.
She made her debut in 1991 at the World Aquatics Championships, winning a bronze medal with the 4×100 m relay team.
She set world records in the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle, and the 100 meter butterfly at the 2000 Olympics.
She is the daughter of a French father and a Dutch mother.
