He began composing music when he was assistant to the Malayalam composer Ouseppachan. He started his professional career in 2003 composing jingles for television commercials.
He won Best Music Director for Malayalam films at the 58th Filmfare Awards South in 2011. He won Best Music Direction at the 62nd National Film Awards in 2015 for the film 1983.
