Japanese actor who appeared in more than 100 films and became known for his Kabuki acting style. He won a Japanese Academy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996.
The son of Kabuki actor Nakamura Tokizō III, he became the first in the Kabuki tradition to take the name of Nakamura Kinnosuke. He changed his name to Yorozuya in 1971.
In 1998, he received a Mainichi Film Concours Special Jury Award.
He was married three times. His younger brother, Nakamura Katsuo, also became a Kabuki actor.
He and Ichikawa Utaemon both became known as specialists in Jidaigeki.
