Nigerian politician who is known for having been both the president and vice president of Nigeria. He is also known for being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a professor of law.
He attended Igbobi College Yaba in Lagos Nigeria where he won the State Merit Award in 1971. He then attended the University of Lagos from 1975 until 1978. He then completed his education at the Nigerian Law School where he went on to become a barrister and solicitor of Nigeria's Supreme Court.
He has won several awards including the African Statesman Intercollegiate Best Speakers Prize in 1974 and the Elias Prize for Best Performance in History in 1973.
He is married to Obademi Awolowo and together they have two daughters and a son.
He was the vice president running mate for Muhammadu Buhari during his 2015 general election.
