Notable as a World Championship winning freediver, Trubridge held world records in the 'constant weight without fins' and 'free immersion' freediving events. He was the subject of a Martin Khodabakhshian documentary titled Breathe.
He earned a bachelor of science degree before beginning his diving career.
In 2013, he established a freediving training program in the Bahamas called Vertical Blue.
He spent his early days in the United Kingdom, but moved to New Zealand before his second birthday.
He is a contemporary of Australian Olympic diver Briony Cole.
