American chess master and author who is best known for being a strong theoretician.
He was a relative late bloomer, having most of his chess success in his thirties and forties.
He was the U.S. Chess Open Champion in 1948 and creator of the Adams Attack.
His parents were Frank and Ethel Adams and he was a homosexual, a matter he discussed in his autobiographical article reprinted in Chess Pride.
His famous Adams Attack was utilized often by the famed Bobby Fischer.
