Pollard was born in Utica, New York in January 1982. She is known for her reality shows on VH1, mainly Flavor of Love and I Love New York. She graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School. She was a contestant on the VH1 reality show Flavor of Love in 2006. Competing for love from Flavor Flav, New York finished runner-up to Nicole "Hoopz" Alexander. Pollard got into many arguments and tried to fight Brooke "Pumkin" Thompson on the reunion show. Pollard and Flav shared the longest kiss in the history of reality television on the show.
New York came back on Flavor of Love 2 but again finished runner-up. In 2007 New York got her own VH1 reality show called I Love New York.
