Mosley took part in his first high-profile professional fight in June of 2000 when he took on Oscar De La Hoya in Los Angeles. The bout ended in a split decision for the WBC Welterweight title after 12 rounds. He defended his title three consecutive times before losing back-to-back fights to Vernon Forrest in the early 2000s. He also lost a much-anticipated 2010 fight to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mosley retired in 2012 with a 46-8-1 record and 39 knockouts. He came back to fight Pablo Cesar Cano in a WBC Championship and won, then battled Anthony Mundine in November 2013. Mosley left the match after six rounds because of issues with his back, and officially retired about two weeks later.
