Since then, he has been named one of the Top 5 up-and-coming acts to watch and one of the Top 10 rising comedians in Australia by the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. He has performed two one hour comedy specials, "The Ron Way" and "Can You Do This? No You Can't.", and has been invited to perform at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and the SOHO Theatre in London's West End. Biography/Timeline

2009

Chieng is of Chinese descent. He was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and was raised in Singapore and in New Hampshire in the United States. Chieng was educated at Yuhua Primary School, Pioneer Secondary School and Pioneer Junior College in Singapore, and the University of Melbourne in Australia, where he resided at Trinity College and graduated in 2009 with Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Laws degrees. He also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University in 2012.

2016

In 2016, Chieng co-wrote and starred in the pilot of a sitcom called Ronny Chieng: International Student, based on his own experience as a Malaysian student in Australia. It was developed into a series for Comedy Central in America and ABC TV in Australia and screened in June 2017.

2017

In April 2017, he joined the cast of the Warner Bros. film Crazy Rich Asians directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Constance Wu. The film marks his American feature debut.
