Former cricketer who played for the New Zealand national team from 1973 to 1990. He is regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history and a great fast bowler.
He made his first-class debut against Canterbury in the 1971-1972 season. He made his test debut in a match against Pakistan in 1973.
He is the first cricketer to complete the double achievement of scoring 1,000 runs and taking 100 wickets in One Day International (ODI) history. He was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
His father Walter and his two brothers Barry and Dayle were all prominent cricket players. His former wife, Karen Ann Marsh, was also an international cricket player.
He and Martin Crowe both represented New Zealand at the international level.
