He sold a minority stake in Sunil Mittal's Bharti Airtel at the stock's peak, cashing in an estimated $500 million. During the 2009 Dubai downturn, he bought 2 buildings in Emaar Square in the central business district for $205 million, a deal that is said to have turned the tide for Dubai's real estate market.
