British Artist whose surrealist war paintings inspired much contemporary art. These include the chilling 1918 pieces Wire and We are Making a New World.
He studied at Chelsea Polytechnic and the London County Council School of Photo-engraving and Lithography before enrolling at Slade School of Art at University College, London, in October 1910.
He was employed as an official war Artist during World War II.
He married Margaret Odeh, a campaigner for Women's Suffrage in 1914. His younger brother was famed Artist John Nash.
He co-founded Unit One, an influential modern art movement, in 1933 with many fellow artists, including Henry Moore.
