Writer, lecturer, journalist and essayist known for his conservative and right-wing political stance, and his outspoken criticism of leftist politics. He moved to Richmond, Virginia, in 2005, and acts as an international correspondent, writing a weekly column for Brazilian newspaper Diário do Comércio. He is the founder and president of the Inter-American Institute for Philosophy, Government, and Social Thought.
He was a member of the Brazilian Communist Party from 1966 to 1968. After becoming disillusioned with the ideology, he became an astrologer, participating in the first astrology course offered at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
He started the website Maskless Media in 2002, a site dedicated to analysis, criticism and observatory of the news media.
He is the son of Luiz Gonzaga de Carvalho, a lawyer, and Nicéa Pimentel de Carvalho. He is married to Roxane Andrade de Souza, and together they have eight children.
In 2015 he participated in the The Washington Conclave for Democracy along with Marco Rubio.
