He was famous for his catchphrase 'let's get it on,' which was used on MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch, and presided over the court television show Judge Mills Lane in the late 90's and early 2000's.
He began boxing while serving the United States Marine Corps and became the NCAA Boxing Champion while attending the University of Nevada, Reno.
The city of Reno, Nevada proclaimed December 27 "Mills Lane Day" in 2004.
He married Kaye Pierce in 1980. He has children named Terry and Tommy.
Three weeks after the "Bite Fight," he refereed the WBC Heavyweight Championship fight between Lennox Lewis and Henry Akinwande.
