Jazz Artist who became one of his generation's most prolific jazz Musicians.
His mentor when he studied in Stockholm was jazz Pianist Alvaro Is Rojas from whom he learned jazz harmony, improvisation, and ear-training.
He was named a Steinway Distinguished Artist in 1997 and became a major visiting Artist at Berklee College of Music in 2006.
He was taught piano and basic music theory by his father, Finnish jazz Guitarist Heikki Pohjola.
His father's huge record collection exposed him to the music of Oscar Peterson, Charlie Parker, and Art Tatum when he was a child.
