Michael Ballard started the Full Throttle Saloon with nothing and grew it one of the most successful bar and entertainment locations in the United States. Michael is a motorcycle enthusiast who has a very unique sense of style. Unlike your typical biker bar owner, Michael sports a full head of dreadlocks. He purchased the 30 acres of land which is now home to The Full Throttle Saloon in 1999. The bar is located in Sturgis, South Dakota and is notable for being the largest biker bar in the world. The bar is half indoor, half outdoor and includes a tattoo parlor, zip line, wrestling ring, several stores and parking spaces for several thousand motorcycles at any given time,. The bar is typically only open from the end of March until November. During the world famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Full Throttle is visited by an average of 20,000 people per night. Michael Ballard and Full Throttle are currently the subject of a reality series on the TruTV channel. The series follows Michael Ballard as he struggles to keep the bar successful and fiscally sound during its shortened season, in which upwards of 300,000 people pass through its doors. As of December 2012, the series has aired 41 episodes across five seasons. The show also features Michael Ballard's girlfriend Angie Carlson who works as the bar's Marketing Director. Angie leads a team of girls called the "Flaunt Dancers" who perform various shows at "Angieland" which is a special bar within Full Throttle. Michael Ballard was born on December 19 in Trimble, Tennessee. Growing up in Trimble, Michael was a bit of a hell raiser. He was so mischievous that the local police gave Michael the nickname "Little Al Capone". Ballard developed a passion for bars and liquor at a very early age. When he was just 12 years old he began sneaking through the back door of the town's biggest bar the Silver Dollar Cafe. After achieving success with the Full Throttle Saloon, Michael returned to Trimble in 2013 to launch a moonshine distillery called "Michael Ballard's Full Throttle S'loonshine". The liquor will be distributed nationally and the distillery has already become a popular tourist destination.
