Television star who grew up educating children on the Nick Jr. series Signing Time!, a show dedicated to teaching young children American Sign Language. Born deaf, the show began as a method to make ASL accessible to all children.
Though she was born deaf, her parents didn't realize her deafness until she was fourteen months old. It was then that they began teaching her Signing Exact English and then American Sign Language.
In fourth grade, she garnered national attention winning first place in her school spelling bee.
Her father's name is Aaron. Her mother, Rachel Coleman, is the co-creator of Signing Time! with her aunt Emilie Brown. Her younger sister, Lucy, was born prematurely and because of her spina bifida and cerebral palsy, she was told she would never speak or sign. However, she managed to defy both counts.
Both she and Ryan Lane are successful deaf television personalities.
