Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party. She served as the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy. On 20 February 2023, she declared her candidacy for Leader of the SNP and First Minister of Scotland. In interviews, she shared her social views, which include being against same-sex marriage, gender self-identification and sex outside of marriage.
As a child, she spent several years living in India. She graduated from Selwyn College in the University of Cambridge with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She later studied at the University of Edinburgh.
She worked for Oxfam Scotland as a campaigns and policy officer. She was a chartered accountant and worked for Barclays. She was elected to the Scottish Parliament in the 2016 election. She is a member of the Free Church of Scotland.
