As a child she learned to play several instruments and was always eager to dance and sing in front of family and friends. Her father bought Karina her first guitar when she was 7 and she wrote her first song when she was 11.

She then began performing at local events. After graduating from high school, she decided to go to law school and music school at the same time. Musa graduated from EMAS (Escuela de Musica Alvin Schutmaat) and finished the 5 basic years of law school. When she was 20, she made it into the finalists of Popstars from Caracol TV Colombia and started modeling and continued to sing.

She then moved to Miami, Florida where she modeled for noted designers and sang regularly at one of the most prestigious private clubs in Miami Beach where she eventually even came to the attention of such notables as Gloria and Emilio Estefan, John Mayer, Jennifer Aniston, Bon Jovi's band and others.
