Lawyer, politician, and member of the New York Senate from 1852 to 1853. He was also the first Judge of the Kings County Court from 1844 to 1847.
He was baptized at the Flatbush Reformed Dutch Church in Brooklyn.
He ran for Lieutenant Governor for New York in 1856 but was defeated by Henry Selden.
He married Gertrude Lott Lefferts in 1846.
