Norwegian-born Politician who served as Governor of North Dakota from 1939-1945. He also served briefly as a Democratic member of the United States Senate.
At the age of twenty, he moved to the United States and secured a position with The Great Northern Railway. He later studied law at the University of North Dakota.
He died two months after taking his seat in the United States Senate.
He was born in Norway to Isabella Moses and Lutheran minister Henrik Moses. With his wife, Ethel Joslyn, he raised four children.
He and Republican John Hoeven both served as Governor of North Dakota.
