English children's author and television presenter who is best known for having created the characters Postman Pat and Rosie and Jim. He is also known for the book Farmer Barnes Buys a Pig as well as several books of poetry and plays including The Twelve Days of Christmas. 

Before Fame

He worked as a librarian and teacher at Castle Park Primary School before being commissioned by the BBC to write Postman Pat which premiered in 1981. He then went on to write Rosie and Jim in the 1990s. In 2010, he went on to publish the iPad children's book Ghosts.
