He has appeared in more than fifty movies, three of which were nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2002. His first film role came in 1989 in Casualties of War, and after he began working on the project, his role was expanded at the request of the director. Other notable roles include Boogie Nights, Days of Thunder, Chicago, Gangs of New York, The Hours, and Talladega Nights. In Talladega Nights he stared alongside Will Ferrell, but it was not the only time he worked with the well-known comedic genius; the pair also starred together in 2008's Step Brothers, which Reilly helped write.
