Versatile building designer whose styles ranged from French Renaissance, to Gothic, to Baroque. Perhaps his most known work is that of The Ashton Memorial in Lancaster.
The first building of his to be built was the Royal Insurance building in London and followed that with the Mappin & Webb building also in London, which has since been demolished.
He was the President of the Roayl Institure of British Architects after receiving the Royal Gold Medal.
He was born and passed away in London, England.
He was a London based architect just as Nicholas Grimshaw was.
