Founding member and Bassist for the band The Used. The band created the label GAS Union and released Imaginary Enemy under the label.
He began playing bass to complement a friend of his who played guitar. In 2001, he, Quinn Allman, and Brandon Steineckert formed the band, although Allman and Steineckert have both since left.
The band was originally formed without a vocalist, so they held auditions in Howard's parents' basement.
He was born in Colorado Springs and moved to Utah when he was eight. He is an only child.
After holding all of their basement auditions, the band ultimately brought Bert McCracken on as their vocalist.
