Sims represented Georgia in the Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant broadcast live from Pasadena, California in August 2007, but did not place. She was the first Miss Georgia Teen USA not to place in the pageant since 2003.
Between 2011 and 2012, she dated iZombie actor Robert Buckley. As of 2017 Sims is in a relationship with professional Golfer Brooks Koepka. In 2017 she completed construction of a new home in Exuma, The Bahamas.
Her first role was the main role of Cassie in Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader (2012), and she appeared in an episode on the Tv series Entourage. She is due to appear in Sharknado 5 in August 2017.
