Beitzel served as Quantum's COO beginning in 2005 and held the position at the time of his 2008 death from cancer. He also worked for Tecstar Automotive Group and Powertrain Integration, LLC. He had been married five times before becoming engaged to businesswoman and reality TV starlet Gretchen Rossi, whom he met while searching for a home in Orange County. Beitzel and Rossi appeared on Bravo's hit reality series "The Real Housewives of Orange County" during their engagement while Beitzel battled leukemia. Much of the show's fourth season focused on Rossi guiding Beitzel through his bout with cancer. After his passing, his ex-wife and the mother of three of his children slammed Rossi in the press, claiming Beitzel never intended to marry the reality TV star, who referred to the automotive businessman as her "Prince Charming". Beitzel died on September 13, 2008, reportedly leaving several million dollars to Rossi in his estate.
