Veteran defenseman that was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes as a first round pick in the 2016 NHL draft. He was later acquired by the Ottawa Senators via trade in March of 2023.
He first discovered his passion for playing hockey as a young boy growing up. As a kid, he played hockey in Florida for the Junior Everblades.
He made his official NHL debut with the Arizona Coyotes at just 18 years and 198 days old. By doing so, he became the youngest player in Coyote franchise history to make an NHL debut. On March 1, 2023, the Coyotes traded Chychrun to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a conditional first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, a conditional second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
He grew up living with his family in the Boca Raton, Florida area. His father Jeff has also played hockey professionally.
