He began his art education at age seventeen in Krakow. From a young age, he infused his artistic work with elements of Polish folklore and landscape.
His most famous works included "BÅ‚Ä™dne koÅ‚o" ("Mad Circle") from 1897, "Melancholia" from 1894, and "Wizja" from 1912.
His Polish patriot father Julian inspired him with tales of the November Uprising, and his uncle sparked his interest in natural landscapes.
