He is also one of the most famous producers of analog synthesizer arrangements. As a child he took lessons in orchestration and composition and studied art history at Keio University, Tokyo. In 1955 he became a composer for film, theater, and television. Tomita composed the theme music for the Japanese Olympic gymnastics team in the 1956 Summer Olympics. He co-founded Japanese animation and computer graphics studio Group TAC in 1968. Tomita released his first album Jungle Taitei Symphonic Poem in 1966.
