Brown, and other stars of the day. At the age of 4, Helen began performing on stage with her mother, a vaudevillian musician. After her father's death at age 31, Helen was able to get roles in films such as Thunder Over Texas (1934) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935). She returned to films in the late 1940s and appeared in lead and second lead roles in films such as The Gunfighter (1950), Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953), and God's Little Acre (1958). She also appeared in TV shows such as Perry Mason (1957), Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958), Bonanza (1959), and M Squad (1957). In the 1970s, she continued to appear in films and TV, and also performed in plays with the Stage Society. Helen Westcott died of cancer on March 17, 1998 at the age of 70, with no reported survivors.

Born Myrthas Helen Hickman, she was the daughter of singer Hazel Beth McArthur and Warner Bros. studio actor Gordon Westcott who died when Helen was 7 years old, in 1935. She attended Los Angeles City College.

1948

Westcott wed actor Don Gordon on February 18, 1948. In 1950, they had a daughter, Jennifer. They were divorced in 1953.

1950

Westcott moved from the big screen to television roles in the late 1950s. In 1958 she appeared on Perry Mason as murderer Marcia Greeley in "The Case of the Haunted Husband." She also made guest appearances on Bonanza, The Twilight Zone and Wanted Dead Or Alive.

1958

Westcott also appeared on the stage later in her career, as well as in films including Anthony Mann's God's Little Acre in 1958.
