English poet, author, Editor, critic, and naturalist known for Wild Flowers in Britain, An Ingestion of Ice Cream, and other works. He received the 1971 Duff Cooper Prize for a poetry collection entitled Discoveries of Bones and Stones.
He was one of seven sons born to a clergyman. Sadly, five of his brothers were killed in either World War I or World War II.
He worked as an Editor for the BBC Monitoring Service during World War II.
He was married three times -- to Francis Galt, Berta Emma Kunert, and Jane McIntire -- and had four children.
He was the father of jazz musician Lionel Grigson.
