He inherited half of his late father's fortune, Bob Magness, who founded cable giant TCI and merged with AT&T in 1999. Magness spends his time on off-road truck racing, movie producing and philanthropy. His wife, Sarah Siegel-Magness, runs their film company, Smokewood Entertainment, which produced the Oscar-winning movie "Precious". Magness is involved in philanthropic activities such as working with the Xavante tribe in Brazil and launching the Precious Center for Teen Leadership. He also collects vintage cars, owns cattle ranches in Colorado, and invests in oil, gas and real estate. In 2016, the couple bought a house in the Hollywood Hills worth a reported $6.875 million.
