American judge and politician serving as the chief municipal judge in Providence, Rhode Island, and the former chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education. He is best known for having his judicial work shown on the television program Caught in Providence which has earned him the nickname "The Nicest Judge in the World." In 2022, views of the show reached over 500 million with one video reaching 43 million views on YouTube.

He was born in the Italian-American neighborhood of Federal Hill, Providence, the son of an immigrant from Teano, Italy. He graduated from Central High School and earned his bachelor's from Providence College. He taught American Government at a high school while attending Suffolk University School of Law at night. He was elected to Providence City Council in 1962. Since 1985 he has served as a Providence Municipal Court Judge. Footage from his courtrooms first went viral in 2017 with over 15 million views.

He has made appearances in the series Parking Wars, presiding over cases of traffic violations. In 2021 he started the Filomena Fund, named for his mother, which pays and supports people who are unable to pay for traffic violations. It was inspired by a letter he was sent by a single mother from Indiana, which he read aloud on television prompting many donations.

He has been married to Joyce E. Caprio for over 50 years. They have five children, four sons, and one daughter. They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He has shared photos with his wife and extended family on his therealfrankcaprio Instagram page.

He is a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and threw the ceremonial first pitch on July 25, 2019, at Fenway Park when they played the New York Yankees.
