American Writer, Producer, and podcast host. She is best known for co-writing the 2017 romantic comedy film The Big Sick which is based around her own life events.
She received a BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an MS/EdS in couples and family counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She then began to pursue a career in writing when she moved to Los Angeles.

She married Kumail Nanjiani, whom she has collaborated with on multiple projects.
