Delaware-born children's rights activist and social worker who introduced Christmas Seals to the United States Postal Service and the American public.
She popularized Christmas Seals with the aim of raising funds for the fight against tuberculosis.
Despite her activism on behalf of children, she allied herself with the anti-suffragists, believing that voting rights should remain exclusively with men.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. She later established the city's inaugural public kindergarten.
She and Canadian activist Craig Kielburger both fought for children's rights.
