Children's author who is best remembered for her popular Little Bear books, which sold over six million copies during her lifetime and were adapted into a television series.
She moved from her native Denmark to the United States when she was four years old. After graduating from Queens College of the City University of New York, she became a Journalist.
She wrote a popular children's book entitled No Fighting, No Biting!
She was married twice. Her second husband, Homer Bigart, was a Pulitzer Prize-winning war correspondent for the New York Times and the New York Herald Tribune.
Like Hans Christian Andersen, perhaps the best-known children's author of all time, Minarik was born in Denmark.
