Well regarded as the Philippines Queen of Rock 'N Roll, her entertainment career spanned 56 years and included performing on stage and on screen in both TV and film.
Her singing career began in the 1940s with her brother Federico, and would take off when she became the undisputed champion of Student Canteen in the 1950s. From there, she was offered a spot at the Manila Grand Opera House Theater.
She went to Vietnam to entertain American soldiers in the Vietnam War and earned herself congressional honors for her services.
She was born in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Philippines to father Arturo Ramsey, a Jamaican merchant marine and engineer to the San Carlos Sugar Milling Co., and mother Marcelina Indino. She had three children with husband Isaac Johnson and one child from another relationship.
While starring on the Philippine Tourism Balikbayan Tour Group, she was congratulated by Sammy Davis Jr. for her performance on the tour during their stop in Las Vegas.
