American opera singer who performed Soprano roles in Richard Strauss' Arabella and in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.
She debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in 1940 and she frequently performed at the famous opera house for the next two decades.
She retired from her operatic career and joined the voice faculty of the Juilliard School and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
