He studied at the University of Minnesota in the late 1960s and went on to create the game Blackmoor, in the early 1970s.
He taught computer game design at Full Sail University for over a decade.
He had one daughter with his wife, Frankie Ann Morneau.
He worked with artist David Sutherland on the original Dungeons and Dragons game.
