She began her athletic career in 1992, with cross-country skiing, before switching to the biathlon in 1999.
She made her Olympic debut in 2010, and won a bronze medal in the individual event.
She was born in Minsk when it was part of the Soviet Union, and moved to Nyagan when she was four.
She became the second woman to win the pursuit and mass start in the same Olympics, joining Magdalena Neuner.
