Soloist and principal Dancer best recognized as a member of the American Ballet Theatre. Since joining in 2008, he has earned roles in productions like Don Quixote, The Prodigal Son, and Shadowplay.
Unlike most ballet Dancers, he didn't attend a specialty school, instead trained privately by his mother who retired from dancing in 1999 and began working as a ballet Teacher.
One of the few in the industry to advocate modernization, he has been active on his self-titled YouTube channel in an attempt to share the art of ballet on a greater scale.
His parents, Dmitrij Simkin and Olga Aleksandrova, were both ballet Dancers. His mother later became a ballet Teacher and his father a Choreographer and set designer.
Both he and Roberto Bolle are recognized as principal Dancers for the American Ballet Theatre.
